To manually log a call in Salesforce Lightning, users can follow these simple steps:

  1. Click on the App Launcher and select any App that you want to use, such as Sales.
  2. Look at the tabs and select Opportunities.
  3. Select the opportunity that you want to log a call for.

  6. When the call is saved, the task automatically shows up under the Past Activities section. The due date is set to the current day and the status is automatically set to complete.
  7. If users want to edit the date, comment, status, create a follow-up task, event, edit or delete the Call record, they can click on the drop-down arrow.

How to Log A Call in Salesforce Classic

To Log a Call in Salesforce Classic, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the avatar and select Switch to Salesforce Classic.
  2. Open a Contact record that you want to Log A Call for.
  3. Click on the adjacent downward arrow to More.

  5. Fill in the information for “Subject” and “Comment.” The “Comment” section is where you can provide additional information about the conversation or the nature of this particular contact. The “Subject” is a one-line description of the conversation.
  6. From the Name, select the lead or contact that you want to log a call for. From the lookup, select the specific lead user or contact user.
  7. From the Related To, select the tab or object that you want to log a call for. From the lookup, you can select a specific type of tab or object.
  8. Click on Log a Call.
  9. From the Latest Post, you can view the latest created Log a Call task.
  10. If you want to add this Log a Call as a bookmark, or want to add topics, or want to mute this Log a Call, simply click on the downward arrow.
